"I Come From Chicago" is a classic blues-rock tune I wrote when I was 14 years old and listening to all the blues I could get. I wrote this tune as a dedication to to BB King, Muddy Waters, Howling Wolf, Buddy Guy, Jimmy Reed, Robert Johnson, Paul Butterfield, Nick Gravenites and all the Chicago and Delta Blues Greats.  It has a nice historical vibe and the lyrics celebrate the history of the blues' migration around the world. You will want to jam to this track and, maybe, get your band to play it. It is created to give every band member a chance to "solo-out to the max" and lead the band to a huge climatic crescendo ... kinda like making love! Great lyrics and some tasty licks, folks, - like home fried chicken.  Also, friends, please consider buying a music file of this song. Your contribution will help independent artists. Pretend you are buying me a cup of coffee.

This was a special gig for me when I got to open BB King's show at Cowtown Ballroom in Kansas City doing a full, solo-acoustic guitar and vocal set. After my set, I called up my buddies from KC Grits and we played a set of electric blues. BB came up to me after the opening sets and said, "That was fantastic. Where did you learn to play the blues?" I told him I came from Chicago. When, he was leaving to go onstage has came up to me and said, "Walk with me". So, I followed him up to the stage. Once he got there, his guitar roadie handed BB his beloved guitar, "Lucille". BB turned to me and handed Lucille to me saying, "Would you be so kind as to hold Lucille for me as I change my coat?"  So, I took Lucille in my hands and BB smiled and winked at me as he put on his coat. Then I handed Lucille back to BB and stood to the side and watched the show.

This was my second Gretsch guitar that I bought.  I had to sell it to go to college. Wish I still had that beauty. It was a Red Tennessean. My first was a Single Anniversary.

This was my first Muddy Waters album. I have had replacements, but still have the original. After I heard, "Got My Mojo Working", I said to myself, "I think I got to go to confession!'

When I heard BB KIng's "Live At The Regal", I played and jammed to it over and over and over. The lyrics were so honest and true and the guitar work was celestial.

The first time I heard Howling Wolf, I was hooked. Then, I found out that his real name was, "Chester", too.... and we were psychic blues buddies.

What more can I say about Jimmy Reed? He was smooth and cool and went right to the heart of the matter. Every song was a classic. And I loved catching his wife softly whispering the lyrics to him as he recorded some of his songs.
