This is a rare VINTAGE recording from Chet NIchols and his first band, "The Chosen Few". It is a very raw recording of the band recorded by their friend, Bill Bradly, in Bill's home in East Wilmette. All the members of the band were scattered throughout the house to isolate this live recording, which was done while Bill's mom was out doing her Saturday shopping.
Mrs. Bradley returned in the middle of the recording and was a wee bit shocked. But she told Bill to finish-up what we were doing and to get all the equipment out of her beautiful house....ASAP! So, the recording session was cut short, as Chet had another 6 songs he wanted to try to record.
The quality was not quite as good as the band wanted, because the mixing board Bill had "borrowed" from New Trier High School's recording center was calibrated to record an orchestra and NOT A LOUD TEEN-AGE rock and roll band from the 1960's.
In any case, the essence of the band is captured and they had a chance to record the ORIGINAL songs Chet Nichols had written as a 14 year old boy. Not bad, all things considered.
Many of these songs were re-recorded by Chet and make up a lot of his 21st century record released by Chet under the title as, "The Ice Cream Man Review". Check it out, if you want to hear how the songs were suppose to sound.
We have also included some of these new tracks as BONUS tracks to enjoy.
