Where were you in 1967?  Well, maybe you weren't born, yet. Or maybe you were running around in the backyard in diapers. Well, here is a "coming of age" story of two young men who hitch-hike from Oklahoma-to-Los Angeles-and-back that changes their lives. The end result, they learn some important "life-lessons" and learn to discard misconceptions and stereo-types that are and would hold them back from growing. Buckle-up and get ready to ride

A photo of the author on his actual trip, somewhere in New Mexico in March of 1967. Photo by, Peter Reiter, Chet's traveling buddy.

Chet Nichols hitch-hiking in March 1967 from Oklahoma to LA. In the background is one of the rides they got, who had to pull over and do a roadside VALVE JOB in the hills of the Texas panhandle. The whole trip is captured in his novel, "The Last Riders On Route 66". Get it and read it. You won't forget it.
