Chester Nieznanski-Nichols, Sr. was a classically trained opera, classical, popular singer and musician who grew-up and lived in the Chicago Area from when he was born in 1910 until he passed away in 1955. He left his loving wife, Mary Frances, and four children: Daniel Andrew Nichols, Kenneth Edward Nichols, Chester Nichols, Jr. and Penelope Ellen Nichols.

During his exemplary career, Mr. Nieznanski-Nichols was a very popular radio, opera, stage, church, wedding and society-event singer. He was also the lead baritone in the highly-regarded St. Mary's Catholic Church Choir in Evanston, Il. The St. Mary's choir was highly-regarded as the top-choir in Chicago and was filled with the best singers and musicians in Chicago. He was also the lead baritone in The Polish Opera Group and Orchestra.

Chester's son, Chester, Jr., followed in his father's footsteps in the music business. After his mother passed away, Chester, Jr. went through the original direct-to-acetates of his dad's performances and was able to, with the help of producer, Stephen Barncard, repair, master and digitize Chester, Sr's vintage performances and the choirs he sang with on these vintage performances.

Tracks 1-thru-4 of these performance collections, were produced with the St. Mary's Choir and orchestra and featured “The Crucifixion” by Sir John Stainer 's masterpiece for choral group and organ. They were performed at St. Mary's Catholic Church In Evanston, Illinois. This performance used two acetate recorders to capture the hour+ performance. The soloists, choir and organist were directed and performed by music director and organist, Gregory Connell.

Tracks 5-thru-12 of these performance collections, feature Mr. Nichols and various other soloist supported by the combined Chicago Polish Group & Italian Opera Group with full orchestra. That said, this recording has very few rough spots, because the acetates that are/were from the mid 1940's (making this performance around 80+ years OLD), still we have wonderfully moving performances featuring, Chester, Sr., the choirs, the orchestra and other featured soloists involved in the production all helped to a contribute in producing a musical performances worth saving and sharing.

We hope you enjoy these vintage recordings and the messages they deliver.
